Gamma problems with 3DS Max

If you are rendering with 3DS Max and your output is too light or too dark you may have a gamma output problem. There is a known issue when using 3DS Max and distributed rendering that can cause the output to be saved out with the incorrect gamma settings. To fix this problem the gamma override needs to be set in the scene file. This can be done by opening the Render Setup Menu scrolling down to the Render Output entry and clicking on Files… this will open up a Render Output File prompt. Select your output file format, go to the Gamma entry and select the radio button for Override then set it to the desired gamma output. For most scenes this will need to be set to 2.2. If the Override option is grayed out you will need to enable the Gamma Override by going to Customize and selecting Preferences. Then under the Gamma and LUT check the box for Enable Gamma/LUT Correction.
